Over the years we’ve had operators come and go but the number of VooDudes remains small. Each year a core group of 8 to 10 VooDudes, consisting of US and UK operators, travel to participate in the CQWW CW Contest from various West African nations.

The story of the 2007 VooDoo Contest adventure has also been put on a DVD. Bob Allphin, K4UEE, a member of the 2007 team, has put together a DVD of that year’s trip called “The 2007 contest DXpedition to Guinea, West Africa – 3X5A”. Travel along with the team as they move their 2,000 pounds of equipment 600 miles overland with two AK-47-toting guards. Strain along with the team and their local helpers as they put up eight antennas before the CQ World-wide CW contest in November 2007. Hear the massive pileups as each man gets a chance to show his CW prowess in front of the video camera. If you like pileups—you’ll love this video!
